Bespoke Craftsmanship: The Eternal Dove Brooch Box, Commissioned for Queen Elizabeth II’s 2012 Diamond Jubilee

At The Jeweller’s Box Company, bespoke commissions are at the heart of what we do—creating luxury jewellery boxes that honour not only the piece they hold, but the story behind it.

In 2012, we were commissioned to design and produce a bespoke jewellery box for a truly exceptional piece: The Eternal Dove brooch, presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

The Eternal Dove brooch, designed by Ivonna Poplanska, is a striking diamond and platinum piece inspired by the historic Sceptre with Dove. Its graceful flying dove design is accented with natural-coloured diamonds and gold floral details, symbolising peace, unity, and British heritage.

For such a significant jewel, a standard box would not do—this was a project that called for entirely bespoke jewellery packaging, crafted with precision and care.

The result was a refined, handmade leather jewellery box, created using traditional techniques and the finest materials. The exterior is crafted from vegetable-tanned genuine leather. This natural tanning process not only enhances the richness of the leather but also allows it to develop a unique patina over time, giving the box its own character.

Every detail reflects our commitment to craftsmanship. Our artisans hand-skive the leather to achieve the perfect structure and finish, then emboss it with an intricate, bespoke pattern. This traditional method creates a subtle, one-of-a-kind design with attention to detail.

Inside, the box is lined with a soft blueberry polyester flock, offering both protection and a striking visual contrast. A hard foam pad with a fixed, wide strap ensures the brooch is held securely in place—balancing function with elegant presentation, a key consideration in luxury jewellery packaging design.

Measuring 11 × 10 × 3.5 cm when closed and opening to a height of 12 cm, the box is compact yet thoughtfully proportioned to enhance the reveal of the piece inside.

This bespoke commission is a reflection of what we do best: creating bespoke jewellery boxes in the UK that elevate and protect exceptional pieces. Whether designed for heritage collections, one-of-a-kind commissions, or luxury retail, our boxes are made to become part of the jewellery’s story.

At The Jeweller’s Box Company, we believe presentation is never an afterthought—it is an integral part of the experience.
